Guest Post: Contribute & Write for Us

Please read this post in its entirety, or I will have to delete your email. You will find my email as you read. Thank you!

Thank you for your interest in working with us at Understanding Pet Fancy Rats- our blog loves meeting new people. We love to hear from our fans, and we would love to add a new voice on occasion! We are just now opening up the gates for guest posting and sponsored posting, and we are aware of the battle that we will need to fight against flat out spam. Before I continue, let me DEFINE what a guest post is, and what a sponsored post is:

Guest Post: This is a post provided by someone who is knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate about pet rats and other small animals. Their posts are much like a standard, friendly blog post, only they are placed on a “neighboring” blog. They are guests that are brought in for their unique views, fun words, and engaging stories. This individual may have a blog that we’d credit; this post is written by the contributor, and may be edited by me personally, in any way that I need to fit the site. The linked blog must pass my quality inspection. This post would be free, unless it does not pass quality inspection. At that point, it will be treated as a Sponsored Post and I will forward additional information.

Sponsored Post: Any post that points to a product, service, or business, in an effort to sell a product or build links. Sponsored posts will only be approved on a selective basis, with the audience in mind. These will not be free of charge, and I MUST approve of the product or service. I expect 100% transparency; otherwise, it will not be a fit for my blog.

I will be compensated for the time that it requires to compose sponsored posts, as I will not permit posts to be written by the sponsor. My readers are of value to me, and I have worked very hard to give them the content that they need.

Guest Post Guidelines

For our friendly bloggers and guest posters, I will give you an overview of what I will require from you to be considered for publishing:

  • Topic must relate to small animals, their care, personal stories about pets, and everything in between. Whether your pet rat ate the couch again, or you found out a certain food was poisonous for your guinea pig, it’ll be a fit!
    • No reference to adult material
    • No adult language
    • No hate speech/rants
    • Hate speech includes extreme activist views, including veganism. It’s okay to be vegan- it’s not okay to judge or belittle anyone else. I see this a lot, unfortunately.
    • No religion. (references to pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge is perfectly acceptable, as well as speaking on seeing them again… we just like to keep our blog in neutral, “love one, love all!” territory.)
  • Species can include:
    • Rats
    • Mice
    • Hamsters
    • Rabbits
    • Guinea Pigs
    • Degus
    • Hedgehogs
    • Chickens
    • And more, just ask! We’re considering expanding the blog into multiple species in the near future.
  • 1,250+ words
    • Fact checked, accurate, fully proofread
    • 100% unique, and NOT posted elsewhere on the web (no duplicate content).
    • Please link to sources or scientific studies if presenting facts (do not link your blog in the article, your link will be in the blurb. Sources must reputable.)
    • No text walls, please use headings, subheadings, and bullets to break up text.
  • 3 Original Images
    • These images should be taken by you- don’t submit stock, I can do that myself.
    • You must have full rights to the images.
    • I am a photographer- do NOT present stolen work to me. I will know.
    • If you absolutely cannot provide images, I will help to find stock images.
    • Again, copying images from an image search is illegal, it is theft; it is just as bad as shoplifting. Many people don’t realize this.
  • A Blurb about yourself/ your blog!
    • 100-200 words: Please describe yourself/pets and your blog
    • Please include a head shot, or clear photo of your pet
    • You may include your blog link, and 1 social media link
  • Please be prepared to comment and SHARE, SHARE, SHARE! Give your post a mention on social media and your blog so that your readers know. This sharing improves the performance of your post! You must also pay a visit to the post 72 hours after posting, in order to reply to any comments.  I will happily notify you of comments.

If this sounds like something you would love to do, please send me an email at understandingpetfancyrats@yahoo.com and please be patient. It may take up to 7 days before you get a reply. Feel free to send your rough draft, images, and blurb over to expedite the process. I’m expecting to perform quite a bit of editing on most incoming work.

Sponsored Post Guidelines

Sponsored posts are not free, and will have some restrictions. Content will be at least 2,000 words, but this will be written by me. Please contact me at understandingpetfancyrats@yahoo.com if you would like for me to evaluate your service/product/website and give you a quote, if you believe your company is a good fit. Give me up to 7 business days for a response, as I manage multiple blogs and I would like to take the time to learn about the company and what it has to offer.

Here are some of the basics:

  • No negative content including: adult language, adult content, religious content, hate speech.
  • No spammy, unrelated content (if it’s commonly found in a junk mail folder or a spam comment, it’s not going to fly here).
    • No get-rich schemes, no “miracle” cures.
  • Be prepared to supply professional images if necessary (all of you work from home women and men, such as those of you who make hammocks or cages, just give it your best shot!)
  • Your company must have an excellent customer support structure, because I will only stand behind a reputable company.  I will protect my readers.
  • You are purchasing a sponsored post. Sponsored posts can be removed at any time for violations. Sponsored posts are not guaranteed to have a follow link, this will be discussed. The post itself will be live as long as the site is live and under my possession. Violations causing deletion may include:
    • Pointing to spam/scam websites in the future.
    • Website being sold/auctioned and used for other purposes.
    • Customer service or product/service quality goes downhill.
